After both the New York Red Bulls and New York City Football Club (NYCFC) made the playoffs due to strong regular season campaigns, their catalysts have been honored.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, Sacha Kljestan and David Villa have all been named to the MLS Best XI after strong seasons for their respective sides.

Golden Boot winner Wright-Phillips had a strong season as he played in 34 games, scoring 24 goals and assisting four others. Red Bulls counterpart Kljestan was a rock in the midfield, appearing in 32 games, assisting 15 goals and contributing six goals himself.

Villa, who was the Golden Boot runner-up, was a big contributor in NYCFC’s season-long playoff push as the Spanish international scored 23 goals and assisted four goals over 33 games.
