on

The New York Red Bulls were dealt a significant blow in their playoff pursuit as midfielder and captain Dax McCarty has reportedly been ruled out for 4-6 weeks after suffering a small tibial plateau fracture.

McCarty, 29, had to be substituted off in the Red Bulls’ game against the Chicago Fire in the 42nd minute after a collision left him clutching his leg.

Thus far this season, McCarty has featured in 21 games, scoring two goals and posting a 82.8% pass percentage, working as a defensive midfielder. It is anticipated that top prospect Sean Davis, who was subbed on for McCarty in the Fire game, will get the bulk of his minutes moving forward.
