Jason Pierre-Paul Out For Six Weeks With Core Muscle Injury


Jason Pierre-Paul is set to be out for six weeks by opting to undergo surgery to treat a core muscle injury.

While this means he will not return during the regular season, if the Giants make a playoff run, he could theoretically re-join them then. This is a huge loss for the much-improved Giants defense, especially against the run. With the Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliot coming up this weekend, the Giants will need to find replacements in order to stop the star rookie running back.

Although Pierre-Paul hasn’t been getting as many sacks as in the past, he has been crucial in stopping the run. Being a leader on defense for the team this season will factor into the Giants decision to re-sign him at the end of the season.

He signed a one-year, $10 million deal at the beginning of the year, and will be a free agent this offseason.
